Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.; died March 29 in Baghdad from wounds
sustained when he encountered an improvised explosive device and small arms fire. Also
killed was Pfc. Patrick J. Miller.

Durrell, my son, our son, your little brother:

We little knew that morning that God was calling your name,
in life we loved you dearly, in death we love you the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone;
for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful and happy memories. Your love is part of
our guide. Although we cannot see you in the physical, your spirit
is always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same, but as God
calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
We miss you so....much but we know you're in a good place now and I
know you're singing, rapping your songs, smiling and looking down on
us;
keeping us safe.
