Burkholder came to 7th platoon First Fast Company, USMC, right out of SOI and Security
Forces School. He was light hearted (always making jokes). He did well as a Marine in my
squad. Motivating him didn't take much, it was apparent that he was always willing to work
hard. I enjoyed having him contribute to my sqaud. I was not aware of his service in the
Army until a friend of ours from our old Platoon had told me that he was killed in action. I am
so sorry the the world has to carry on without his his bright spirit. He will always be missed.
