| Tributes This Memorial Page Established by-SFC Rod Brewer In Honor Of SGT Gary "Andy" Eckert Jr. Sgt Gary "Andy" Eckert Jr., of Toledo, Ohio. Eckert died in Balad, Iraq, from injuries sustained earlier that day in Samarra, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV. Andy was assigned to the Army Reserve's 983rd Engineer Battalion. He was sawing his Company Commander where he was wounded the first tour and drove about 100 yards down the road from the first accident when he was killed. Left his wife Tiphany , his daughter Freedom and his son. Christmas in Arlington... Rest easy, sleep well my brothers. Know the line has held, your job is done. Rest easy, sleep well. Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held. Peace, peace, and farewell.... Andy, You Have Not Been Forgotten... Rod. June 14, 2008 Ally Eckert Andy was a great brother, and friend. I still think about him every single day, and I will for the rest of my life. He and all of the other soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrafice are the best heros in the world, because they are true heros. Superman can't even compare to these great soldiers. Freedom is not free. Rest in peace Andy, I love you. |
