In Honor Of Specialist Alun Richard Howells

Specialist Alun Richard Howells was killed in action at
the age of 20 by hostile enemy action on August 13th, 2007, in
Baghdad, Iraq. He was an amazing soldier, brother, son, friend, and so much
Alun is missed so much, by so many. Known to some of his higher ranks
as their "super soldier", all of his battle buddies considered him their
best friend. He never failed to achieve the task at hand, and always
put himself before the next man or woman, even volunteering for the
mission on which he would lose his life to an armor-piercing grenade. When
soldiers would fall behind in basic training and beyond, they were told
to "Howells up" and do what they have to do.
Alun was so loved, and will continue to be. A huge hole was left in the
hearts of many people on the day his life was ended. He told our
family that his biggest fear of going to Iraq was not the risk of never
coming home, but being forgotten if he were to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Forgotten is what he will never be, honored and remembered in the
hearts of so many people he will be.
Rest in peace, big brother. I love you.
