| Tributes This Memorial Page Established by- SFC Rod Brewer In Honor Of SFC Matthew Ryan Kahler SFC Matthew Ryan Kahler, 29, of Granite Falls, Minnesota. Kahler died in Forward Operating Base Fenty, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained from small arms fire in Waygul, Afghanistan. Possible friendly fire. Afghan guard (ally) possibly mistook soldier as an enemy combatant and engaged with small arms fire. Incident is under investigation. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy. "Rock Force" Christmas in Arlington... Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.
