2nd Lt. Brian D. Smith was killed in action on July 4, 2004.  He was killed by enemy fire during
combat operations.

Tributes:

I learned about 2nd Lt. Smith in school today.  I’m very sorry for the loss of Lt. Smith. What I
learned about him, he seemed like a really cool guy.  He will never be forgotten.

I also learned all about 2nd Lt. Smith and his service to our country.  I feel very sorry for his
family and the loss they have suffered.  I hope they are able to recover from this tragedy.  If it
