| Tributes Memorial Page Established by- Dale S. Morgan II, Ret (WIA 2-18-04) In Honor Of PFC Lucas V. Starcevich PFC Lucas V. Starcevich Born: June 6, 1981 Killed in Action: April 16, 2007 Starcevich died April 16, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when the vehicle he was in struck an improvised explosive device (IED). He had been assigned to the 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany for this, his 2nd tour in Iraq. Starcevich was honorably discharged in 2004 after serving in Iraq and re-enlisted in 2005 “because he loved the Army”. That prior service was where he was an amazing soldier in the 46th Chemical Company, 2nd Chemical Battalion, 13th COSCOM stationed at Fort Hood, Texas where I had the honor of working alongside him and deploying with him during his first tour. According to his father, Starcevich always wanted to be "an Army guy". He played with his G.I. Joe action figures when he was a child and loved to dress in camo. Most of all he loved his country (right along his friends and family). Starcevich was courageous as he understood his job and the dangers involved, yet went about it anyway, though not without fear. His father has a page for him if you care to learn more about the person Starcevich was beyond the Army: http://www.starcevich.org/luke.htm March 24, 2008 Jarid and Stephanie Taylor Luke was an awesome guy and soldier. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends. Especially his close friends from Tolono. RIP Luke. |
