Rest in peace, Lieutenant Walker. Your service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

It was my own son's 82nd-Abn QRF unit that responded to the tragic incident on the Tarin
Kowt road that took Lt. Walker's life. He told me he had met her several weeks earlier and
how he respected her as a soldier.

24, of Texas; assigned to the 864th Engineer Combat Battalion (Heavy), 555th Maneuver
Enhancement Brigade (Provisional), Fort Lewis, Wash.; killed Aug. 18 when an improvised
explosive device detonated underneath her Humvee during ground assault convoy operations
in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Also killed was Sgt. Robert G. Davis.
